Telescope eyepieces can vary in size, magnification, function, and quality. Even the most experienced stargazers might find themselves confused at the sheer number of choices when it comes to making the best decision as to which eyepiece will work best. There are also a number of suppliers of telescope eyepieces that range from Bushnell to Meade and even Celestron.

To complicate matters even further different objects may be viewed better with different eyepieces. There is not a one size fits all for telescope eyepieces. One way to solve the problem is to purchase a telescope eyepiece set.

By purchasing a telescope eyepiece set you can get several different types of eyepieces. Most telescope eyepiece sets contain medium quality eyepieces which make them affordable to beginner stargazers. Sets are generally also cheaper than if you were to buy each eyepiece separately which helps to contribute to their appeal.

Advantages To Purchasing A Telescope Eyepiece Set

Many new stargazers spend hours reading about the different types of eyepieces that are available. Each one serves its own unique purpose and it can be hard to determine simply by reading which eyepiece makes the most sense to purchase. By purchasing a telescope eyepiece set you can get a whole assortment of eyepieces, an especially good idea for beginner telescopes. Over time you can get familiar with each one and their capabilities through use instead of by reading. For some stargazers this is the only way to truly understand the differences that each eyepiece will provide for them.

Once you have gotten familiar with each of the telescope eyepieces that make up the set you will have a better feel for which ones you rely heavily on and which ones you hardly use at all. Eventually you will get to the point where you will want to upgrade the ones that you use frequently. You know you will be making a good investment as you already have experience with a variety of eyepieces. If you had just made your best guess before purchasing the set based solely on what you read you might have picked one of the eyepieces that you use infrequently.

Telescope eyepiece sets usually come with other accessories that can be used with your telescope for added viewing abilities. Most will come with a selection of filters that you can use with your eyepieces. These are things that you may have never thought to purchase on their own but now you have them as an added bonus.

We thought all you budding astronomers would appreciate the advice and information provided by the below video. Our teacher will be giving a brief discussion about telescope mounts: Alt-Azmuth, equatorial, and dobsonian.

He also provides a discussion regarding moon phases so you will be able to better understand the various viewing stages of the moon. Even with beginner telescopes, you will have a first row seat when you view the Earth’s moon. So, after watching this video, why not head out to a nice dark viewing spot and look at the moon with a whole new perspective?
